Kuwait is a small country located at the northern edge of the Arabian Gulf, bordered by Iraq and Saudi Arabia. The country has an area of about 17,818 square kilometers and a population of approximately 4.2 million people, with the majority being migrant workers from various Asian countries such as India, the Philippines, and Bangladesh.

Kuwait is a constitutional monarchy with a government led by an Emir. The country has an elected parliament that plays a significant role in policymaking, although the Emir has extensive powers, including the right to veto parliamentary decisions.

Kuwait’s economy heavily relies on petroleum, which is the main source of national income and exports. Kuwait possesses the fifth-largest oil reserves in the world. The official currency of Kuwait is the Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD), known as one of the strongest currencies in the world.

Kuwait is known as a migrant-friendly country, though there are several challenges faced by this group. The Kuwaiti government has implemented various reforms to improve working conditions and the rights of migrants. These include the abolition of the kafala system, which previously bound migrant workers to their employers, as well as enhanced regulations to protect workers from exploitation and ensure they receive fair wages and decent working conditions.

The country continues to strive for a balance between protecting migrant workers and its economic needs that rely on foreign labor, making Kuwait quite unique in the Middle East in terms of migration policy
